About
this pass
The
JAPAN RAIL PASS offers an incredibly economical way
to travel throughout Japan by rail and is offered by
the six companies that make up
the Japan Railways Group (JR Group). Japan Rail has
three types of passes available as a 7-day, 14-day,
or 21-day pass. The
Japan Rail Pass is valid for the railways, buses, and
ferry boats shown below. If you are a foreign tourist
visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing,under the
entry status of "temporary visitor" you are
eligible to purchase and use a Japan Rail Pass.

How
to buy a Japan Rail pass and
Validity Period |
| |
- The
JAPAN RAIL PASS can be purchased directly from WHOSE
Travel for the costs below. This pass must be purchased
before you enter Japan.
- The
validity period of a JAPAN RAIL PASS is the consecutive
7, 14, or 21 days beginning on the date the pass is
first used.
- We
will provide you with an Exchange order before you
leave for Japan. Upon arrival in Japan your must validate
your order within 3 moths and exchange it for your
actual pass. At this time you have to specify the
date that you want to start using the pass. It can
be any date within one month from the date the pass
is received. Follow this link for specified ticket

- You
will be asked to fill in a simple form. You can fill
in the form when you are in Japan, or prior by downloading
a from here.
Once the pass has a starting date written on it, the
date cannot be changed.

Notes
for the use of the Japan Rail Pass
|
- The
ticket is for one person only.
- The
ticket holder can use the trains and
buses free of charge as indicated below.
- Railways:
All JR Group Railways-Shinkansen"bullet
trains" (except any reserved or
non-reserved seat on "NOZOMI"
trains), limited express trains, express
trains, and rapid or local trains. (With
some exceptions)
- Japan
Rail Pass can not be used for Tokyo
monorail.
- Buses:
Local lines of JR bus companies (JR
Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR Bus
Kanto, JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus,
Chugoku JR Bus, JR Shikoku Bus, JR Kyushu
Bus) and some of JR highway bus services*.
*
Sapporo-Otaru; Morioka-Hirosaki; Tokyo-Nagoya,
Kyoto, Osaka,Tsukuba Center; Nagoya-Kyoto,
Osaka; Osaka-Tsuyama, Kasai Flower Center
Ferry: Only the JR Miyajima ferry
is covered. The JR Hakata-Pusan (Korea)
ferry is not covered.
- The
JAPAN RAIL PASS is not valid for any
seats, reserved or non-reserved, on
"NOZOMI" trains on the Tokaido
and Sanyo Shinkansen lines.(The pass
holders must take “HIKARI” or “KODAMA”
trains. )If you use a "NOZOMI,"
you must pay the basic fare and the
limited express charge, and for a Green
Car the Green Car surcharge
- Also
note that passengers using JR trains
on non-JR lines must pay additional
fares and charges for sections traveled
on such lines. Some JR trains use the
lines of private railways for direct
services.
- The
ticket can be reissued at major stations
if the magnetic strip fails to function
during your journey.
- Tickets
will not be reissued when lost.
- Tickets
can be refunded at the place of purchase
only if the ticket has not been used.
- Tickets
will not be refunded for suspended services
by a transportation company once the
ticket has been used.
- If
the ticket is used illegally, it will
be invalidated and collected, and additional
fare will be charged, according to the
regulations of each transportation company

About
this pass
This ticket enables you to ride on private
railways. subways, and buses throughout the Kansai district.
As well as enabling you to tour Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto,
it lets you visit Nara, Wakayama and Koyasan. The economical
Kansai Thru Pass is available in a 2-day or 3-day pass
and enables you to get more value for your money on your
holiday in Japan.
- From
Kyoto to Osaka, Kobe, Mt. Hiei and Himeji. Get on
and off the train or bus bound for Wakayama, Nara
and Koyasan as you like during the period of validity
(Excluding JR lines. Check the map for the available
trains and busses).
- You
can use the train or bus without going through the
troublesome task of checking the complicated rate
table to buy tickets and you won’t need to buy another
ticket every time you make connections.
- You
can benefit from complimentary discount promotions
at 350 major tourist facilities along the railway
lines.
- It
can be used from Kansai Airport Station on the Nankai
Train after arriving at Kansai International Airport
(The Express rapid requires additional tariff).
- Receive
a free guidebook in English, Chinese, Korean, German
or French.
- Check
the map for areas where the KANSAI THRU PASS can be
used. Please note that the pass cannot be used on
some routes. (As of April 1, 2009) .Route

KANSAI
THRU PASS is a special ticket available only for tourists
visiting Japan for the purpose of sightseeing. You will
need to meet one of the following requirements in purchasing
a ticket.
[1] A foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad on
a [short stay] entry status.
[2] A Japanese national living abroad.
[3] A person accompanying those who meet the requirements
1 and 2 above as their guide.
- The
KANSAI THRU PASS can be purchased directly from WHOSE
Travel for the costs below.
- You
will be provided with a voucher before you leave for
Japan, and on arrival in Japan, exchange it for the
ticket at a specified ticket office.

Notes
for the use of the Kansai Rail Pass
|
- The
ticket is for one person only.

area during the period of validity.
- It
cannot be used on JR lines, airport
limousine bus or reserved seat busses.
It may not be valid on some routes.
- When
using the ticket, insert it into the
automatic ticket checker in the direction
of the arrow printed on the ticket.
- When
using the reserved seat express train
of the Nankai Electric Railway or Kinki
Nippon Railway, please purchase a separate
express ticket, special coach ticket
and/or reserved seat ticket.
- The
ticket can be reissued at major stations
if the magnetic strip fails to function
during your journey.
- Tickets
will not be reissued when lost.
- Tickets
can be refunded at the place of purchase
only if the ticket has not been used.
- Tickets
will not be refunded for suspended services
by a transportation company once the
ticket has been used.
- If
the ticket is used illegally, it will
be invalidated and collected, and additional
fare will be charged, according to the
regulations of each transportation company.
- Separate
fare will be required for journeys outside
the valid zone. Please inquire the station
staff.
- Please
be advised that you may be required
to present the back of your ticket on
routes operated by some transportation
companies
