Coins: THB1, 5, 10 and 25 and 50 satang
Credit cards: Most major credit cards are widely
accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops.
Exchange:
Drawing cash from ATMs is one of the best ways to
obtain money using an international credit or debit
card. ATMs can be found in most towns and all major
cities throughout Thailand. There may be a daily limit
on the amount you can withdraw so check with your bank
before you travel. Check also which ATM systems are
compatible with your card.
Banks are open from 09h30-15h30 Mon-Fri, and usually
offer the best exchange rates.There are also currency
exchange services available seven days a week from 07h00-21h00.
Traveller's cheques are widely accepted. It is advised
that you carry traveller's cheques in Pounds Sterling
or US Dollars.
Service Charges:
A service charge of 10% is usually included in hotel
and restaurant bills. Although it is not customary to
tip people for their services in Thailand, it is becoming
more common and is always appreciated.
