 Puerto Galeria

Puerto Galeria is on the Island of Mindoro which is the seventh largest island in the Philippines. It is the main port town on the island of Mindoro and about a two hour drive from Manila then a 1 hour ferry ride.

Sabang is the most popular spot on Mindoro and is well known for being an excellent diving spot. Sabang beach is small and not the best for swimming. Better beaches found by walking around to Small Laguna, and best at Big Laguna (15 to 20 minute walk).

The area consists of Sabang Beach, Little Lalaguna Beach and Big Lalaguna Beach. Most of the tourism is at Sabang Beach with the least at Big La-laguna Beach. The place is ideal for diving - both for beginners and advanced.

Big Laguna has good sand, swimming, and corral for snorkeling. Clean friendly establishments are located all along the shoreline. Beach vendors are usually friendly and none persuasive. White beach is probably the nicest beach on Mindoro but must be reached by boat which can be rented easily from any of the locals.

A half day trips can be arranged to the nearby Tamaraw waterfalls or a motorcycle can be rented for the more adventurous type.

Sabang is very lively in the evening with clubs, bars, and restaurants. There are plenty of dive shops to choice from for diving excursion throughout the day and night.

How to get there:
Here is some information about how to get to Puerto Galeria after you arrive in Manila.

Sikat is a company that offers a bus and ferry service which I recommend. It is about a two hour ride to the Port of Batangas then a 1 hour ferry ride after that.

They depart daily at about 8:00 a.m. from The Citi Estate Towers in Ermita. The address is 1315A Mabini St and the phone number is 63-2-521-3344. The cost is about 1000 pesos for a round trip.

I would recommend that you arrange for your accommodations beforehand for the night of your arrival as well as the night before your departure back to Taiwan.

Here is a link to some hotels that are in the area and within walking distance to the bus that can be booked right on line: The Las Palmas or The Executive Plaza Hotel

Both of these hotels are also within walking distance to Manila Bay. This is a good area for a walk in the evening as they have a nice boardwalk along the bay with lots of restaurants and live music.
