The
East Coast National Scenic Area was
authorized as Taiwan's 2nd national
scenic area in 1987. It's territory
is a strip of land and ocean which
lies mainly on the east side of the
coastal range of Taiwan from the Hualien
River mouth in the north to Siaoyeliou
near Taitung in the south, and also
include the Siouguluan river white
water rafting segment, located below
Rueisuei as well as Green Island.
The area is a total of 41 484 hectares.

unique national scenic area contains
abundant natural resources: a combination
of mountain, sea and island sites.
Visiting Toroko Gorge and diving in
the coral waters of Green Island are
tourist highlights in this area.
