| Points
to consider when applying for a visa |
- Make
sure your attire is presentable, no shorts,
torn clothes, sandals etc.
- Bring
your ticket or itinerary showing your departure
out of Taiwan.
- Express
Service is available in Hong Kong for an additional
50% of your regular fee.
- You
must bring 2 passport photos with your application.
- You
will need an employment authorization from the
Council of Affairs if you are applying for a
resident visa in order to get an ARC.
- If
you are applying for a tourist visa you will
need proof of financial support such as a bank
account statement showing sufficient funds.
- Hong
Kong is probably the most strict consulate so
ensure you have all the proper documentation
ready.

| Transportation
to and from the airport |
Many
options are available in Hong Kong, rail, bus,
ferry and taxi. The high-speed Airport rail service
takes passengers to Hong Kong Station in Central,
via Tsing Yi and Kowloon, about 23 minutes. The
one-way adult fare from the airport to Hong Kong
Island is HK$100. Trains run every 12 minutes
from 5:50am-1:15am daily. There are more
than 30 bus routes from the airport, including
nine Airbus services that have fewer stops than
conventional buses. Airbus fares range between
HK$14 and HK$45. Ferry links between Chek Lap
Kok Pier and Tuen Mun Pier in the New Territories
run from 6am-11pm daily. Taxis to almost anywhere
in Hong Kong are available from the taxi pickup
area. A typical journey between the airport and
Central costs about HK$340.

| Airport
Tax |
Passengers
12 years old and above must pay an Air Passenger
Departure Tax of HK$120 (which is normally included
in the price of the ticket). If you arrive and depart
Hong Kong within the same day you are exempted from
paying this tax. An additional HK$13 Airport Security
Surcharge will be collected from passengers departing
Hong Kong International Airport. This is in addition
to the existing HK$20 security charge already collected
will bring the total security charge paid by passengers
to HK$33. |
